How you choose to live is what your story will ultimately look like.
Your interactions with people, how you made others feel when you walked into a room, what messages you radiated. These are the things that will follow you long after you’ve departed.
When you think of your “story” many people automatically attribute that to what they’ve been through. While our experiences that have molded us DOES play a significant role in who we’ve presently evolved into…that does not have to be definitive of how we market ourselves to the world.
Although I do not have scientific facts based on statistics and studies - I can for sure tell you what I’ve experienced. A large amount of people that i’ve interacted with solely operate in survival mode. Survival mode doesn’t leave room for compassion. love, forgiveness, healing, or self discovery to be honest.
Survival mode is exactly what the name implies…surviving. Only doing the necessary things to keep your basic needs met and most importantly to stay alive. If you’re merely existing for the sake of self preservation and necessity - are you truly living?
What is your purpose? We ALL have that!
That is a question that goes deeper than the scope of me writing for the love of it. It is however a question that we all should sit back and think about for a bit. What is your “why”?
The “why” has pulled me out of some really effed up situations because when I answered that question, it had no significance. No strong foundation to stand on, or most importantly to build with.
On the other hand, the “why” has also opened doors for me that I would have never saw myself on the other side of. In this case - my “why” for these situations compelled me to expound on each answer. Remember the bubbles we had to do in elementary school? The big bubble, with the smaller bubbles around it. Yea, that’s typically my thought process for everything lol!
Here is a quick example of a conversation that I’ve had with myself:
“Alexas, why do you want to go to grad school - that shit is expensive and you are already pretty deep in student loan debt?”
“It’s bigger than me.”
“Well wtf does that mean?”
“An MBA increases my value in the job market.
Experience + Education + Me Knowing What I’m Worth = More Coinsss.
Which I need to grow my businesses.
That can ultimately provide funds for me to create and operate the Non Profit Organization that I plan to.”
“ Well about that student loan debt?”
“…….”
I challenge you today to sit with your thoughts for at least 30 minutes and consider your “why”.
People have this idea that our purpose is revealed to us like a lump sum settlement. For some people, that may be true. However based on my experience, as you grow through different lessons of life - you are exposed to different parts of your overall purpose. It’s like a big ass puzzle. You are only shown the pieces that you are ready to move.
